Plan ahead because you will most likely lose money on your book. Books are considered as a huge investment. This means that that the sole source of your income should not be the profit from a book. Living off royalties is what you can do in the future but that would be an ideal situation.

Lastly, having your backend components in place is also important. This means that you have to have an actual business that backs up your book. A book is not enough to keep you afloat. You should not jump into a new business area with just a book. You need to be an expert, or have access to an expert, to create credibility for your book.
