Original And Powerful Christian Play Scripts

By Gabrielle Lambert

Christian play scripts are the new "in" thing for delivering sermons and lessons. The audience is drawn into a riveting plot with teachable moments embedded within. Many different kinds and styles of plays are available, and can be written or customized as per requirements.

Writing a good drama is a creative process that takes a certain amount of time. The plot has to be coherent and fleshed out with characters that can connect with the audience. The story needs to have a smooth flow, and must end with a climax that provides a crystal clear illustration of the core lesson.

Every story takes turns and twists when the lead characters make choices. This is where the teachable moment gets its spotlight. The end game of the written word cannot just be good theater, because the main intent behind using Christian play scripts is to inspire and change lives.

A basic storyline or plot can be adapted and customized in different styles. It could end up as a children's play or a musical. Customization can also be done depending on the required length and the number of actors to be included in the skit.

There are many general scripts and storylines which can be used at anytime of the year. It is just as possible to come up with a highly specific and themed script, such as a Christmas or Easter drama. It is even possible to cook up a story based on and around specific Bible passages.

One good example is an end of the world drama based on the fact that the Mayan calendar ended on Dec 21, 2012. It created worldwide hype and hysteria about Armageddon. This was a good time to talk about Matthew 24 through a skit about the second coming of Christ. The drama would include apostasy periods and end of the world events.

Similarly, Psalm 46 was the best fit for a story that played off Armageddon as defined by the narrowly averted fiscal cliff. The basic premise was that God provides refuge and comfort for those teetering on the cliff edge of doom. A plot that weaves together such biblical and current events is very much likely to be well received.

This is not so easy to do day in and out, because earth-shaking news events such as fiscal cliffs and Mayan calendars don't pop up every other day. It is hard enough to match teachings from the bible with the everyday worries and concerns of the ordinary Joe and Jane. It becomes even harder for those who do not just want to deliver a sermon or lesson, but also want to make it interesting enough to actually make an impact.

The best way to grab hold of an audience is to create a story that illustrates a lesson through the life of a character facing the same real life concerns. The story and current events help to establish a rapport with the audience, resulting in a stronger impact of the lesson therein. Powerful Christian play scripts like this can only be written by someone who has faith, and also knows the great power written words have to uplift the soul and show the light towards the right path.
