How To Deal With Raw Emotions

By Jose Roberts

Emotions which are raw and less controlled are difficult to live with. It can happen because of different factors in a person's life. Sometimes, a person will react quickly in a defensive way. They may become very angry. Other people tend to panic or they are filled with anxiety. It is important to be aware of these raw emotions because they can take over your life.

People experience these types of emotions for a number of different reasons. Some people will not have learned how to control their emotions. Other people just don't know how to express themselves. There may be too much information coming in and you just need to escape from everything.

It can have something to do with to do with childhood distress or trauma which one has not dealt with. A child from a dysfunctional home will not have been taught how to cope on their own. They will still be facing terrible feelings based on what they have been through. It can relate to anxiety, with a lot of fear and panic. It especially happens when they are triggered.

Other things on a temporary nature can lead to these emotions brewing up. The individual often thinks that it is just temporary and they will get over it. However, it is not as simple as this. When you are facing a challenge in your life, you need to deal with it at the present time, otherwise you are going to be presented with other problems as well.

Many people allow things like anger, jealousy and rage to take over their lives. It is not something that they want in their lives. Often, they will start the day on a relaxed note. However, this always seems to go haywire when something small happens. It can be a little road rage and your emotions will get out of control. You will already have started the day in a bad way.

However, one will identify what the technique is which best helps you here. For example, there are some people who say that meditation or mindfulness helps them when they begin to get anxious or when they panic. There are apps on your phone which will guide you through this time when you become fearful.

There are people who go to specialized counseling, such as with dialectical behavioural therapy. This can be very useful for the borderline patient who tends to react quickly, even in small situations, becoming defensive. It can work out well for people who act in a similar way. They will usually work according to a program, in steps and report back on a weekly basis.

With fear, it is often negative thoughts which can bring you down. You begin to have a low self esteem and a low confidence level. A therapist who specializes in this techniques aims at helping the individual to become less skeptical and more positive about themselves and their surroundings. It will lead to a healthier lifestyle as well. Their relationships will improve and overall they will feel content from one day to the next. However, it is not something that is cured overnight, and one needs to be patient.
