Content Writing

By Maya Gilbert

When it comes to creating a website there are many elements that go into it, but at the end of the day the most important aspect of your website is the way that it conveys its information and in this respect, the content that you find upon it. Writing for a website is a great deal different to traditional writing as you are looking towards a more targeted audience who have an idea of what they are looking for, you need to capture their attention and inform them of your company, in just a matter of words.

Knowing your target audience and how to specifically pinpoint them is a driving force behind content writing. You need to know the message that your client is trying to convey and most importantly you need to understand your client. You need to act on behalf of your client and understand how they interact with their cliental base. You need the flexibility to chop and change between a whole range of clients.

You must remember that your target audience on the web is far different than that of any other publication and in many situation this means that you need to write for people who are going to scan your articles and your writing rather than perhaps reading the entire way through it. Complicated lingo and long sentences will lose your audience, so stay focussed and target your audience in a way that grabs their attention.

You need to focus on what your reader really wants to know and boring your audience with details will easily lose their focus and attention, so keep it short and simple and only tell your audience what they need to know, anything else they can find out later on.

You need to understand your target audience and know what they are looking for, so in addition to writing you also need to research a basis for your article. Take on board what your clients have to say, they are often your best source of feedback for your work.
