Seven Great Tips For A Government Proposal Writer

By Danielle Atkinson

Gather the requirements. There are preliminary requirements bidders need to comply with if they are planning to propose a project. As a government proposal writer, one should be ready to go through great ends just to get and comply with the requirements.

Make it plain but understandable. It is fine if one does not use highfalutin words since the purpose of a proposition is to have the reviewers understand the goals and necessary actions to be taken for the project. Just go directly to the point.

Present the facts in an orderly manner. Cluttered facts will definitely get rejected first. Arrange the facts in a manner that can be easily understood. Put proper labels and follow the standard format. If possible, use graphs and tables to make it easier for the reviewers to read. Divide the thoughts into paragraphs correctly.

Check regularly for updates. Subscribe to daily updates if the entity has a newsletter or the likes. This will make it easier for the proponent to make changes on the proposition if ever there are any updates about the bidding. When it comes down to it, information is still the best weapon.

Follow submission guidelines. Be sure to comply with the standards set by the entity. The proponent must abide to the rules whatever it may be. Check if there are certain standards for the format, font size, font family, margins, and even for the paper to be used.

Keep a copy of the paper as reference. When the reviewer calls the proponent up for further questions about the proposition, it will be a good thing if one can pull up a copy of his own paper easily. This will make one calm down and answer the questions in a confident manner.

Be on time. To be on the safe side, put the date of submission on a post-it note and stick it at the most conspicuous place. One may also mark his calendar or his planner for the said date. A government proposal writer should always be prepared in days before this deadline so as not to make a mess on the day itself.
