My Own Idea Of Writing Articles

By Lindsay Reid

So many people just can't stand the prospect of writing articles. They think it's boring and arduous. On the contrary, I love it. I think it is fun and a great way to blow off steam. There are many other rewards as well.

It can be quite a challenge to come up with an idea for an article, let alone to come up with dozens of such ideas, and filter through them for the very best to turn into articles. However, there are ways to make it a little more routine.

It does and will always take a little bit of blood, sweat and tears to go through the process of article writing, but with a few simple steps you can make the process easier. Keep these things in mind.

You could try listing out your major points ahead of time. Come up with the things you have to say and then follow it as you go through the writing process. Like driving, it helps to have a good idea of where you are going.

A little personality never hurts, either. Feel free to tell a little bit of a story in your article. Don't worry about turning off your audience by interjecting your own experience. People love to read that kind of thing. Storytelling is more engaging and more entertaining that just a dry treatise on whatever subject you are outlining.

It can help, too, if you try to challenge yourself in your writing. You can do this by setting simple, arbitrary goals, like timelines. These often help me to get through a story quickly and without much angst. It can be pretty easy to get distracted too. A timeline helps with that.

I also like to give myself rewards when I finish my work on time, or when I do a particularly good job at something. For example, if I sit down and plow through five articles in a sitting, then I'll take myself out for an ice cream cone afterward. Again, it's a minor thing, but it works.

The last suggestion I have for you may sound a little funny, but it works, I assure you. I installed a little software on my computer that tracks my typing speed and I've worked to improve that over time. It just takes a little bit of the pain out of the process.
