Writing Tips For The Beginner

By Anthony Carter

Writing is an art to some people, and a scare to others. And while some people have no problem with any topic at all and spilling out words, others just clam up and get completely tongue tied when they have to start writing about a specific topic.

If you need help writing and you normally get very nervous when you see a blank piece of paper then the following tips should help.

* The most important and obvious thing is to find a topic. It is better to start with a topic or subject you are most comfortable with and which you are quite knowledgeable about.

* What you want to write should be first written down in rough draft form. While you are then writing it again, you will have the foundations to make it perfect; you will never get it just right on your first attempt.

* The second time that you write the article should be when you have taken a break after the first draft. The thought that you place into your writing will be reflected in the quality of the piece.

* When you have the two drafts, you should be able to see that they make sense together. The information and backgrounds of each piece should complement each other.

* The next step is to edit your piece. If you are using a computer to type your work then use the spell check option. Even if you have used spell check, you need to have a look through your work to make sure you have not used correctly spelled words which do not make sense in the context of the article.

* Next, you have to check if you have forgotten anything like introduction of characters, the smooth flowing of points and if there are any logical gaps.

When you think you are finished, get someone who will give you an honest opinion to read it. Take note of what this person has to say about it and then make any edits that are necessary.
